love this heater - 12/08/2013
We own 3 of themthem and love them. We have had them for more than a year and use them daily. The only we have is that one just started popping and crackling when turned on. Not sure of the cause of this because it still puts out heat. It just sounds awful for the first hour.
very nice heater until... - 11/13/2013
I bought this heater in late 2009 or late 2010, cant remember which for certain. Anyways, we ran this in our living room to keep it at a comfortable temperature and had the thermostat set much lower for the oil furnace. So it ran basically everyday, from November through April for about 12 hours per day. It did a very good job of heating the living room, and even into the kitchen and hallway. It is a quiet and attractive little heater I find many other oil filled radiators to be quite ugly.
I hadnt had a single problem with this unit until 2 days ago, when I could smell oil. At first I thought it was the furnace, but after some inspection it was definitely this heater. Is there a fix for this?
Our best advice is to call the experts at Kaz at 800-477-0457. They will probably want to know the details of where the leak is, and from there should be able to provide you will more information.
Great Heaters - 01/04/2013

I bought two of these when I lived in an older house in Florida, moved to AZ years ago and never needed them, left them outside in the elements. My central heat went out tonight, plugged them both in for the first time in 6 years...both worked flawlessly. I like the fact that they are oil heated and feel they are safer. I was going to put them on ebay or Craigslist, now Im glad I didnt. Its in the 30s outdoors and nice and toasty inside in spite of my central air being on the fritz.
Its been a great heater for me - 10/01/2012

I have no reason to give this anything lower than a 5. I have not had any of the bad experiences that some of the other posts talk about. Had it three years now and it is performing perfectly. Functions perfectly, just like the day we got it. For those that have leaking oil issues, I suspect mishandeling during the summer storage months. Ya know, its probably not good to drop or have it fall over, it might bust some seams. These things are tested prior to sale, if you treat it with reasonalbe care, it will take care of you.

Very slow to warm room.
You may want to contact the manufacturer, Kaz 1-800-477-0457. They will be able to tell you the size of the room this heater can heat up to.

I have had this unit for 3 years. I did pay about $60 for it from Home Depot. It has always worked pretty good and warmed the room. The timer function would only work sometimes. It would shut itself off at will and not follow the program. I had it on last night and was getting ready for bed when I started to smell something burning. I went back to the bedroom and I could see smoke coming from the front of the machine. It looked like it was coming from the electronics section. I have used a delonghi heater for 15 years with no gagets inside and it still works perfectly! I like the high-tech stuff. But sometimes..that just causes MORE problems later. Back to low-tech for me. The Honeywell is pretty...but I thank GOD I was awake when this thing wanted to heat things up a bit TOO much!!!
oil leaked - 12/24/2011

This is the 3rd heater like this we have owned. The first two heaters the electronics quit working on the 3rd winter we had them. The most recent heater is into its 3rd winter and is leaking oil all over the floor. Luckily it wasnt on the carpet. Im not sure how much longer it will run but seems to putting the oil into the air as I can smell and feel it on things. These heaters work well and are semi easy on the electric bill. But because they are radiant heat must be run constantly to keep house at a steady temp. The only complaint I have is they seem to stop working during the third year forcing us to spend another 90 bucks on it. Seems like such a waste of materials as it looks like a quality product. I wish they would last longer or the stores that sell them would replace them. Not worth all the hassle of shipping it off. If we had taken the money spent on the three heaters and bought a more expensive portable heater like our hydro-sil we wouldnt be throwing away resources, money, time, etc. Or like I said, make servicing them easier. Maybe a longer better warranty.

My wife bought two of these about three years ago because our oil furnace went out and needed a heat exchanger, it took me three weeks in the dead of Jan to weld together another heat exchanger, in the mean time it was in the low 30s here and one of these oil filled heaters at each end of my house kept it a nice 68 degrees, Now in 2011 I find we need to use them again this year because of the economy and a lack of money to buy oil for the furnace. So far its 68 deg in my house with one in the hall way and one in the living room :Id love to have the money to buy about three more of these and run them instead of buying Middleast oil.

This heater has been keeping my home office area toasty several years now. My only complaint is one of the plastic wheels fell off in the first year, and a second wheel fell off in the second year. Cant roll it anymore or it will scrape & scratch the floor, so I have to pick it up and carry it to move it now, even if I just want to adjust a few inches. Not that easy when its already hot. Otherwise this heater does the job nicely. Got it on sale at a local store for about $60.
