Honeywell Air Purifier Replacement Filters: What You Need To Know
If you are an allergy sufferer, you are definitely not alone! It’s estimated that more than 25 million Americans are diagnosed with seasonal allergies each year. Millions of people also experience year-round allergies. Once you suffer from them, you know: allergies are nothing to sneeze at. Although you can’t remove allergens from the air outside, you can reduce them in your home! Whether you have seasonal or year-round allergies, a Honeywell Air Purifier can help you control the quality of air in your home while reducing your exposure to these microscopic airborne allergens. Whether you have allergies, asthma or simply want access to fresher and altogether cleaner air in your home, you’ll find that the installation of a Honeywell Air Purifier can offer some much needed soothing relief. Ensure that your air purifier is operating as intended by replacing its filters.
Most Honeywell Air Purifiers feature a “Filter Check/Reset” indicator that will alert you whenever it’s time to change the filter. As a general rule though, we’d encourage you to follow the recommended guidelines:
Honeywell Pre-Filters should be replaced once every 3 months.
Honeywell HEPA Filters should be replaced once a year.
Honeywell HEPA Clean Filters (depending on the model) should be replaced every 4 to 6 months.
Honeywell Enhanced Filters should be replaced once every 3 months.
Note: These replacement intervals are intended as guidelines only. Performance of any filter media is dependent upon the concentration of contaminants going through the system. High concentrations of contaminants such as dust, pet dander, and smoke will reduce the useful performance of the filters.
Note: the main filters on Air Genius or Quiet Clean Air Purifiers are permanent and do not need to be replaced but should be washed every 3 months according to the instructions in the owner’s manual.
There are two easy ways to go about this. When you remove the grille of your Honeywell Air Purifier, you’ll find a sticker indicating which replacement filters are required to run your air purifier efficiently. We can help you with the second. By using out Filter Finder search tool located at the top of this page, we can direct you to the exact replacement filter needed for your air purifier.
The Honeywell brand takes pride in ensuring effective air cleaning performance. To help ensure stated product performance and effectiveness, use only Genuine and Certified Honeywell Replacement Filters. Each air purifier is designed to work with the specified filters. Unit performance is tested as a system with Honeywell Filters for best efficiency. The Honeywell brand cannot promise the stated performance of your air purifier if non-Honeywell filters are used.
Cutting your pre-filter is easy. Simply remove the pre-filter from its box and use the provided cutting template. Following the cutting template will ensure your pre-filter is the correct size for its untended unit. Once you’ve finished cutting, you’ll want to secure the pre-filter under the clips located on the rear of the air purifier’s grille.
Most Honeywell Air Purifiers feature both a pre-filter and a primary filter. The pre-filter can help capture larger airborne particles like pet hair and dust while reducing odors and VOC’s. The primary filter in your unit will typically be a HEPA, HEPA-type or ifD filter that can help capture the smaller microscopic airborne particles.
Honeywell S Series Filters are specially designed to strengthen the Insight™ Series. Honeywell Enhancement Filters provide a degree of customization to the filtering experience as they’re able to target specific odors. The availability of four different enhanced filters offers a personalized approach to targeting most common household odors as well as VOCs specific to the surrounding air. Intended to be used alongside a standard Pre-Filter and HEPA Filter, Honeywell Enhancement Filters can expedite the removal of odors and VOCs in the surrounding air.
Make sure the air purifier is OFF and unplugged. Press the two hand symbols on the front grille to release it from the unit and pull the grille toward you to remove it. Grasp the sides of the filter frame near its top end and pull outward. Repeat for the second and third filter if applicable. Place the Certified HEPA Filter(s) Filter R into the air purifier housing. Ensure that the removal pul tabs are facing outward (this will facilitate filter removal later). Place the pre-filter on top of the HEPA filter(s). Tuck the edges of the pre-filter into the tabs that are located around the edges of where the HEPA filter(s) are inserted. The Honeywell HPA300 has velcro strips on the housing where the pre-filter should be attached. Replace the front grille by placing the tabs on the bottom of the grille into the slots on the unit. Gently push the top of the grille into place by pressing on the hand symbols to secure in place.
