Customer Reviews For The Resideo RWD42 Water Leak Alarm With Sensing Cable
I have had the Water Leak Alarm for at least three years since a neighbor had a flood that caused extensive damage to his ceiling. The Water Leak Alarm is easy to set up. I've actually had a bathroom very slow leak. I received notifications but didn't see water on the floor ?. But, when I passed my hand across the Sensing Cable I felt it wet. This leak would have only gotten worst. I was able to make a minor repair and avoided what potentially could have been a real problem. I have four devices and have just added two more including the attic where the HVAC is. I plan to give my two sons three Water Leak Alarms each for their homes. I'm very happy with the product and I tell others my story.
Just as described. Easy setup. Can't completely judge it till a water event occurs but it looks like good quality that should deliver quality service!
JUST WHAT WE NEEDED, HAD A SLOW WATER LEAK THAT DID MUCH DAMAGE, NOW HAVE FOUR WATER LEAK DETECTORS IN PLACE !
This leak alarm was so easy to install, a baby could have done it. So far so good. BUT I hope I never have to test it with a leak.
This is just what I needed to notify me of a leak. Easy to install.

Liked the alarm, easy to use, good price. Think the alarm could be louder than it is though.
Excellent in all regards so far.
This will go off if ANY moisture touches ANY part of the sensor cable. Other, inferior alarms have a long, plastic covered wire with the only part that senses water being a gizmo at the end. The wire could actually be submerged in water and there would still be no alarm if the box at the end isn't wet. Talk about a false sense of security. Imagine the damage that could occur under, say, a dishwasher, if a rivulet of water from a slow leak touches the wire but avoids the sensor on its stealthy journey into the apartment ceilings below. That won't happen with these alarms. Just make sure the fabric covered sensor cable is taped down flat with small pieces of tape along the whole length. You will have to provide better hold down clips than what are provided, however, because the provided ones have poor adhesive on them. Even a damp rag accidentally touching the cable will set off the alarm. To silence it you will have to unplug the cable for a few minutes until it dries out.
I recently installed a walk in tub and having the Honeywell leak alarm is giving me peace of mind with knowing that the smallest drop of water activates the alarm. The alarm is installed under the tub which I would normally would have no means of checking except via an access panel in adjacent room. With the Honeywell leak alarm installed I no longer have to wonder or worry that anything bad is going on with no visual evidence to alert me. P.s....I plan on purchasing a second alarm for a new hot water heater, so thanks for the coupon in advance.
Very important product when you have a water tank above or I should say in your ceiling to alert you if you have a leak that would save hundreds maybe thousands of dollars from damage every home should have one that have anything that capable of leaking ..
The Water Defense Leak Alarm was so easy to install and works perfectly. I have the sensor hanging in my sump about three inches above the highest water level. I hope I never hear it alarm!
Good product. Love the cord to detect leaks across a wider area than just at the unit. Wish it had Wi-Fi connectivity
The Honeywell Water Defense Leak Alarm was very easy to setup and begin using. I bought 6 in my initial order and will order at least 10 more for other homes. We also use the Honeywell Thermostats in our different homes. Again, another excellent product.
Service was very good and device also works very well. Thank you
We have several of these alarms and one recently alerted us to a washing machine leak that we wouldn't have found without it.
We feel really comfortable knowing that we can be notified if we have a water leak using this great product.
I bought this to alert me if my waterbed started leaking so I could catch it before it got to be a big cleanup job. The other morning I heard steady beeping & it took me a minute to realize what it was. After removing my mattress cover, I realized it was just a bit of condensation on the top of the mattress, but the alarm picked it up. I'm impressed!
After completing an unplanned and lengthy remodel of our kitchen due to a water line failure, I placed one of these units under the sink with the cable extending under the dishwasher, and second unit under the fridge. The sensor under the sink alarmed the first night alerting us to a drain pipe the plumber had failed to glue. This device prevented a potential repeat nightmare, and in my opinion is worth every penny.
The Resideo RWD42 Water Leak Alarm offers superior protection against leaks and water damage near potential trouble spots close to plumbing around the home or office. This patented 5 ft. cable solution extends the detection zone offered by traditional spot detectors by 3100%. Additional cables (sold separately) can be connected to extend the cable and increase water sensing area up to 240 ft. Water Sensing Cable detects water on entire length of cable. Place the cable in spots where you do not usually observe such as water heaters, sump pumps, under sinks, around toilets, behind washing machines and dishwashers. This is the only system that can run around the entire perimeter of a room or basement. The Resideo Water Leak Alarm also gives off a chirp sound when the battery is low. This detector can be placed flat on the floor or mounted on a surface, for wall mounting, use double-sided tape (included) to adhere to a dry surface. This unit works directly out of the box with no assembly required, simply add batteries and place in the desired location where you want to prevent water damage.
