Everything I Expected

Ordered wrong part

Disappointed inside of Honeywell machine displays 2 models. I used the data displayed for a model i don't own and ordered wrong replacement filter. Store was quick to return, but I had to pay for return shipping. User error.

Wrong filter

ONLY BUY THE REAL THING!

I mistakenly bought, what I thought was Honeywell at that well know online site and it was not and a sad knock-off . The door of unit did not close properly and sent dust out. Feels good buying from Honeywell

Our Honeywell air purifier was due for a new filter and we are pleased with the purchase. We didn't have to spend much more than the cheaper imitations and like buying direct from Honeywell -- we are wary of subpar/fake products. It took some time to arrive due to the high demand during the COVID-19 pandemic and the wildfires in the west, but it still came in a reasonable amount of time. These HEPA filters do a great job and the improvement in our indoor air quality is extremely noticable.

Fine but a bit of odor

These work fine in my machine, but make sure you get tow if that's what your machine requires, and as many people have reported there is a faint rubber smell when you first install them. For me it was a minor annoyance that went away after about a day, but for a product that cleans the air that is a little surprising.

Couldn't Be Easier

The installation of this filter is so easy. The machine 17000 requires 2 filters, but they just stack and plop in.. with the pre-filter around it of course, but the product was very sturdily packed and arrived in perfect condition. Working very well.

Hepa filters

Do not last as long as advertised 3 to 5 years, but that is because our air purifier works overtime 24x7 to control smoke and odors from two heavy smokers in the winter, and smoking and smoke from wild fires in the summer. Usually replace filters twice in winter, once in summer depending on how bad the nearby forest fires are that year. No complaints. Fast turn-around on orders.

Long life filter, not so long

Stated replacement period is 3 to 5 years. May be true for the occasional user, but not for a household with heavy smokers and air purifier is in use 24x7. The filter begins to produce an odor that cannot be removed with a vacuum, and I replace it after 6 months of use. Not a complaint, just a reality check.

Good, but two filters...?

The quality of the filters are fine, great replacement. The only hang-up I have is the fact I have to use 2 of them. I wish honeywell still made the single larger filter, Im sure its not in high demand any more and from a manufacturing stand point it didnt make sense to make. It seems to work fine as is, Im certain the filter area isnt as big because of the fact you have 2 filters with 2 rubber gaskets meet where you would normally have only filter area.

Effective, but noisier

The previous filter I had was one big one, but that one is no longer being manufactured. Therefore, I needed two of these filters to fit in my unit. They work just as well as the single filter, except they are noisier with an odd squeak. This makes it more difficult to sleep with. I simply run the unit during the day in the bedroom instead of at night and that seems to work.

Honeywell HRF-D1.

Ive found that genuine Honeywell HEPA replacement filters are the best. The ones I just purchased again confirm that. The only thing is I wish there were HEPA replacement filters that fit the individual air purifiers, instead of having to wrap two or more in the pre-filter and keep them from slipping out while putting them in the machine.

HRF-D1 is not an OEM equivalent filter. You need to stack TWO of them to fit Honeywell model 17000. I went to another vendor to purchase the OEM replacement single filter.

Disappointed with Need for 2

Disappointed that the air purifier model 17000 now needs 2 replacement filters instead of one. This decreases the amount of HEPA filter space resulting in less air filtering. When I purchased it a few years ago, it seems that it only needed one. Would like to see a larger size made for this model so that the filter need is only one.

1/2 of what I needed

I received the filter and what a disappointment. It was my understanding that I was ordering an exact replacement for my filter Type D. What I received in the mail was half the size needed. The packaging says that if I want it to fit my unit I would need to purchase 2 filters. This is quite a disappointment. I expected an exact replacement of the factory installed filter and that is not what I received. I ordered directly from Honeywell and paid a premium price, because I expected that I would get the exact filter needed. I expected more from the manufacturer... I could have purchased a piece-meal replacement anywhere! I immediately wrote an e-mail to Honeywell and have yet to receive a response.

Not Happy With Size

Although the HEPA filter works well, its only sold in one size. For one of my filters, I have to buy two and stack them. This has made the filter noisier. For my other filter, I had to buy three. This sizing requirement is not readily apparent in the online store.
